I don't use THRU tracks but I think you need to trigger them. Did you drop a trig on your THRU track? Before even bothering with that just use the regular mixer and turn up DIR. You won't be able to use the OT FX but at this point, who cares? You just need the audio working.
WRT "turning on" the midi CCs you need to activate them. I think you just need to push the encoder.
